Did you know that birth balls come in sizes? Many moms don't know this and may get the wrong size. Having the wrong size might make it difficult to use the ball comfortably in labor when trying out various positions.
The three sizes most widely available are meant to correspond with your height. Basically you want to be able to sit on a fully inflated ball and have your knees at a right angle. So if you're on the cusp in the chart below, the length of your legs versus your body will make a difference, so be sure to try the ball out first.
- 55 cm: Useful for moms 5'3" and under
- 65 cm: 5'3-5'10
- 75 cm: Typically for moms over 5'10"
What size ball did you get? Was it the right size?
