Hand Covering Mouth

So, we've been discussing where you were when your water broke. Some of the stories are really hilarious and others you can just breathe a sigh of relief for mom. Here are some of the ones I laughed at and identified with:

"Had just gotten into bed and was reaching up to turn off the light when I heard the pop and yelled for dh to get towels (fortunately I had put a water proof mattress pad on the bed months before). Lovely ride to the hospital with folded towels in my already too small pants in below freezing temps."

"Logan's sac was opened during the c-section delivery. It was the weirdest feeling. My OB estimates that Logan had 5x the amount of fluid most have. It went everywhere and got everyone. As soon as the OB did it, I remember saying, 'Oh I can breathe again!' Everyone just laughed."

Did you know that your water breaking at the start of labor only happens about 13% of the time? Doesn't sound very movie-like, but it's memorable none the less! Add your water breaking story!

It's generally safe and acceptable in pregnancy for all women. The relaxation component is also nice - a chance to slow down an already hectic mind. With that in mind, you can check out so of the newest videos in our gallery that include some basic yoga poses for pregnancy:

Pregnancy - Is that all you can talk about? I can't tell you how many times I met this question with that deer in the headlights look. Was I really talking about being pregnant incessantly? Was it really annoying everyone? Even my best friends and husband? Sometimes the answer really was yes, but I was so excited about my pregnancy and my mind was constantly busy with it. I'm sure you've had at least some days where you could relate to this feeling.

As you spend time with family and friends this holiday season, be sure to keep this thought in mind. You might also avoid some really unwanted pregnancy advice!

Older Woman and Pregnant Woman

As all the holidays are rolling up on us, it might be time to talk about some of the most common fights that pregnant moms have with family, particularly during the holidays.  The truth is that most of are doing something that others in our family do differently or disagree about, be that a parenting style, how or where you plan to give birth or feed your baby.

Don't let this wreck the holidays.  Remember that planning ahead, avoiding hot topics if need be, and understanding that everyone simply wants the best for your baby, even if the advice is totally wacky.  What's your hot topic and how do you avoid it or diffuse the situation?

A Twin Birth Story at 40+ Weeks
Dec 21st 2011, 10:10

Nearly ten years ago I got the news - we were expecting twins. When I was pregnant with my twins, I thought for sure there ought to be some way to tell I was pregnant with two rather than one - without the use of medical technology. With multiple birth rates on the rise, you may wonder if maybe your bundle of joy isn't really bundles (plural). This quick and easy quiz can help you sort out fact from fiction in the great scheme of things and help you determine if you're possibly having twins!

Our identical twin girls turned nine today! Take a trip down memory lane with me and read about their birth, it was a wild ride!
