Strangers touching your belly happens so frequently in pregnancy, it's often thought of as a side effect of pregnancy. The problem is not simply that it's strangers, but friends and family too. Most people simply don't like to be touched without giving consent.
Now some pregnant women feel differently, particularly if it's someone they know. One mom said, "I know they just want to be a part of a miracle, who can resist?" But there are just as many moms who says - Hands off!
Now in Pennsylvania, a man is being charged after hugging a pregnant neighbor and touching her belly. The mother-to-be called the cops. Apparently you can be charged with harassment if you touch someone with the intent to harm, annoy or alarm them. My guess is the technicality here will be trying to prove the intent, even if the product was harm, annoyance or alarm for the mother-to-be.
So nuisance to deal with or chargeable offense? Where do you draw the line personally?
