For many years all you would ever hear in the news was how women who were considered obese were in grave danger while pregnant. K Mom at Well Rounded Mama has been talking about this for years, but it's nice to see it in a respected journal again.
Basically the facts are, if you are a mom who is over-weight or obese and having a baby that is not your first, your risks don't really go up as much as previously thought. This is particularly true if you do not have another disease associated with obesity prior to pregnancy, like diabetes or high blood pressure. Have you talked to your practitioner about your risk factors before pregnancy or during? Have you been given a scare of the fat factor? What did your practitioner say to you?
